Mamboleoo My partner took my last name because her "maiden" name (I dislike that term, or "nom de jeune fille" in French, ugh) was long & most people spelt it wrong. Though it was unique… now it's a common name but easy to spell (and people still get it wrong!). (cntxt: she's US, I'm FR)

Mamboleoo I think it's great if it's a choice that both spouses agree upon, not just because it's the "default". Having a compound name (like mine… but it's not legally my full last name, anyways not important) is pretty neat, or even perhaps making up your own unique mix!
